England swings like a pendulum do,
Bobbies on bicycles, two by two,
Westminster Abbey the tower of Big Ben,
The rosy red cheeks of the little children.

Colin Irwin represents the first British music journalist in this series. He spent three decades working in editorial capacities for Melody Maker (70s and 80s) and Number One Magazine (Late 80s through Early 90s). He is well-respected for his writings.
Colin Irwin has written several music books. The book that he is most recognized for is, In Search of the Craic: One Man’s Pub Crawl Through Irish Music. I compare this work to many books in the United States about folk, blues and jazz roots exploration. I profess that I know very little about Irish pub songs so this book would suit my indoctrination to this topic in-depth. I applaud the research exerted in pursuit of the tradition spent with Guinness, musicians, singing, and Irish celebration.
