LONDON FOG 1966 – The Doors

Before The Doors took the music scene by storm in 1967, they were the house band at the London Fog, a Sunset Strip dive bar located just footsteps away from the world-famous Whisky a Go Go, the future home of many of the band’s most legendary performances.

The Doors will open a virtual time capsule this month with LONDON FOG 1966, a Collector’s Edition boxed set that features unearthed audio recorded at the club in May 1966. Previously unreleased and not even known to exist until recently, this marks the earliest recordings of the band and finds the quartet mixing blues covers with early versions of Doors originals. LONDON FOG 1966 is the first of many special activities and releases coming to celebrate The Doors’ 50th Anniversary in 2017.

It Can’t Happen Here

I am appalled at the sibling rivalry of family descendants when it comes to inheriting and managing the Zappa family trust.

Ahmet and Diva Zappa intend to deny their brother, the other son of Frank and Gail Zappa, Dweezil Zappa the inalienable right to use his own last name to identify himself in the field of music and entertainment. Talk about restraint of trade and obstruction to earning a living. How wack-a-doodle and insensitive can Ahmet and Diva be?

We’re seeing more and more examples of absolute power corrupting absolutely.

I’m writing this blog post in the hopes that you will support Dweezil  in this very important fight of personal integrity and validation.

I prefer to see Dweezil Zappa absolutely free to use his last name in business. It boggles my mind when I think of the precedents this legal action might accomplish.

My son and I witnessed the world premiere of Dweezil Zappa’s Zappa Plays Zappa at the Jammy Awards, April 20, 2006 at the Theater at Madison Square Garden, NYC. His father, Frank Zappa was honored with a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award.

Dweezil Zappa is denied the use of Zappa Plays Zappa and the censorship, the outright stripping of his rights to his own legal name further evidence the abuse of power by Ahmet and Diva Zappa.

If you believe in Dweezil protecting his namesake, join us The Others of Intention at Pledge Music, today!

Mavis!

Mavis! is the first feature documentary on gospel/soul music legend and civil rights icon Mavis Staples and her family group, The Staple Singers. Please Tell Us More Neil Re:Pono HiRes Streaming….

I listened with a great deal of interest to Neil Young on the Rolling Stone Magazine Now podcast. I took notes during the section that focused on Pono Music. I learned that the revised Pono Music Store will be both a download and streaming site when ready.

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/rolling-stone-music-now-podcast-neil-young-on-new-album-w455253

My question is how will we stream high-resolution audio with the existing Pono Players? Exclusive of a Pono – SmartPhone partnership or device/ existing Pono device enhancement?

Will I need to boost my ISP speed to 300MBs or more?

I researched the Internet and came up with the fact that Sony Xperia smart phones play and stream high res audio music.

http://www.sony.com/electronics/hi-res-audio-streaming-beginners-guide

The high res streaming service Qobuz (France) today streams high res. It has a limited global market (France, UK, Germany, Netherlands).

However its not streaming from Singapore…and it’s not Pono….

Hopefully Neil will further enlighten the Pono community (after all we’ve been loyal and patient) with more information about the revised Pono service after sharing that knowledge with Rolling Stone Magazine’s audience first via their podcast.

Journal of Music and Audio – Copper Webzine

PS Audio in Boulder, Colorado has launched a fun and informative webzine called Copper. It is a free biweekly publication dedicated to high-end audio enthusiasts. Once upon a time I owned a high-end separates audio system. I wish I still had that setup with the surge in the vinyl media in my music collection.

Download an issue and see what I mean.
