The Gathering of the Vibes Music Festival will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year. The Vibe Tribe has an exciting “initial schedule” to look forward to in 2015 in Bridgeport at Seaside Park. The festival takes place July 30-August 2, 2015.
I am stoked for Wilco, The String Cheese Incident, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings and Billy & The Kids.
Can’t wait to see who else gets added to this event!
I’ve owned Made Up Mind since it was released on August 20, 2013. I play it from time to time. I was appreciating the fact that TTB is still working this recording as part of their appearances. Today’s performance solidified the recording in the music of our heart.
The song “Do I Look Worried” was written with John Leventhal who is married to Rosanne Cash. John Leventhal is an excellent songwriter, guitarist and arranger. He plays a principal role in the success of Rosanne Cash’s latest hit recording, The River & The Thread. Derek Trucks returns the favor to John Leventhal by playing on their track, “World of Strange Design”.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God Matthew 5:9
A warm round of applause to Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi for extending the offer to jam with Dickey Betts this past Saturday night at the Beacon Theatre in NYC. Betts sat in for takes on the Allman’s “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed” and “Blue Sky” towards the end of TTB’s set, before returning in the encore for “The Sky Is Crying.”
I’m considering taking the local Metro North train to this event which negates the hassle of driving and parking. I can just hop the train and be at the stadium in 16 minutes. It will only cost $5 round trip and some foot power 😉
The second studio album from the stellar Tedeschi Trucks Band is in the can and will be released August 20th, 2013. It is titled Made Up Mind. I genuinely love what this 11 piece ensemble delivers so I am eager to hear some initial cuts. I can see from their recent set lists these songs are being played live 😉
All I can tell you now is what the news release states:
The product is an energetic, powerful album that is both timeless and characteristically difficult to classify.
Did you ever have one of those days that was as much a contact high as it was richly fulfilling. May 22, 2012 has been that day for music appreciation.
The day started on a high note and has been playing strong ever since. I was waiting for the morning coffee to kick in as The Howard Stern Show began its Rock Day over the Sirius/XM wireless radio. I quickly learned that Slash was coming into the studio to talk to Howard Stern to promote his new CD, Apocalyptic Love (5/22). His interview was as compelling as it was intimate. I’m listening to the replay of the interview as I write this post. Amazing musical career. I especially like his vocalist Myles Kennedy, their juxtaposition is striking
Slash’s interview was followed by Gregg Allman‘s in-studio appearance and interview in support of his new autobiography, My Cross to Bear.
Today was also the release date of the Tedeschi Trucks Band Live double CD, Everybody’s Talkin. I have my copy in my hot little hands and I can’t wait to start listening to it on the Bose Sound System after the Gregg Allman interview.
I am eager to relive some of the live tracks that were recorded at the Tedeschi Trucks Band’s concert we attended last year on October 29th in Bridgeport, CT along with all the other tracks. I have also downloaded the extra track, “Simple Song / Take You Higher”.
Here is the video of Everybody’s Talkin filmed at The Klein in Bridgeport, Ct.
I just placed my order for the CD. I was additionally incented to do so by the contest they are sponsoring. The Grand Prize for the pre-order contest (no purchase is necessary by the way, is a Gibson SG Special guitar signed by Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, a VIP concert package including two tickets to a headline Tedeschi Trucks Band show, and a meet and greet with the band. (Love to win this prize…).
Second prize is a signed vinyl edition of Everybody’s Talkin’.
It just so happens that the songs Everybody’s Talkin’, Darlin’ Be Home Soon, That Did It, and Wade In the Water were recorded at our concert on October 29, 2011 @ The Klein in Bridgeport, CT.
